[1/11/06] Steve Arnold - E:volve Mix (Jan 06)

Postby Mrbishi™ » Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:55 pm

Steve first played out by blagging a gig at top Ibiza bar ‘Kremlin’ in Ibiza (1999) at the tender age of 16, after impressing on his first night he was asked to return the next week while he was still there and subsequently has played there every year since whilst he has been out there. Following that Steve started playing at local clubs ‘Ave It!’ and ‘Progression’ where he was noticed by native promoter and DJ Barry Diston who immediately booked him to play his own club FIDGET. Fidget went from strength to strength and lead to Steve playing alongside the biggest players in the game week in week out including Paul Glazby, Andy Farley, Ilogik, Tidy Boys, Charlotte Birch, Mark Gray and many many more.

Following Steve’s electrifying sets here came other promoters obviously looking for ‘new talent’ and Steve became a regular at other clubs around the Midlands like Sassy, Boo!, Submission, Hard Ground, Ave It!, Frazzle, Excentric, Shaft and Cheyenne!

Steve plays a variety of styles ranging from Progressive Trance and House through Trance, Techno and Hard Dance but it has been his energetic Techno and Hard Dance sets that have made him a major player in the UK Hard Dance scene. You rarely see Steve stood doing nothing, he incorporates Accapella’s, sampling, fx and live editing into his set aswell as his total lunacy behind the ones and twos to make a totally mind blowing and interactive experience.

Steve’s influences include Andy Farley, Fergie, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Paul Glazby, Chris Liebing & Marco Bailey. He rarely gets to showcase his whole breadth of music taste due to the differences in the styles of music but has been steadily climbing the ranks in the UK for the last 5 years in each genre having more recently played for the biggest names in the country including Sundissential, Housewives Choice, Dropzoner, Gathering, Club Venemous, Aura Orange, E:Volve, Shine, Toast aswell as names like Emergence, Sassy, Sassy Hard, Xtatic and Reach Out on a smaller scale.

Steve is also co-promoter of Clubbed Up radio alongside Nice Guy Danny which has been running for the last 4 years,in which time we have had guests such as Lisa Lashes, Danny Rampling, Andy Farley, Ian M, Fergie, Nick Lunn and many many more every week. Through this weekly radio residency Clubbed Up have hosted / co-hosted rooms at many huge nights including Sundissential, Storm, Dropzone, Housewives Choice, Shine and loads more and this year also featured in the dance tent at world famous Bulldog Bash which is the annual Hells Angels festival,at this weekend event ran by the notorious Aura Orange sounds system featured Lab4 (Worlds No.1 Live Hard Dance Act 2004), Proteus (Worlds No.1 Hard Dance DJ 2004), Anne Savage (Tidy Trax, Sundissential, Frantic), Sterling Moss (Tidy, Sundissential, Frantic), Hellraiser (Australia), Nice Guy Danny (Frantic/Clubbed Up), Steve Arnold (Sundissential/Clubbedup), this weekend they also recorded their biggest attendance to date with over 30,000 ppl attending, with all of the above clubs asking for return bookings and Frantic and Storm requesting Clubbed Up host a room for them in the coming year all things Clubbed Up are set to go through the roof!!

Steve was a runner up in the national DJ competition ‘Pure Vinyl’ in which he beat over 5,000 entrants to make it to the big final in 2002, aswell as this Steve again came runner up in a national DJ competition ran by the huge Sundissential narrowly being beaten by half a point by now resident DJ James Ellis. Steve has also held a residency in Ibiza at ‘Hacienda recreation night’ ‘The Second Coming’ for those of you not familiar with ‘The Hacienda’ it was THE club that started the whole UK scene and Steve played to over 1000 ppl every Wednesday at Club Summum in San Antonio Bay.
